If it is such a great idea, let private
investors fund the bonds, not government.

California bullet train...one of the most stupid ideas in California
in an era of stiff competition for stupidity.

- why spend tens of billions of dollars on a train for a supposed
transportation need that could be solved with a few more airliners?
- why not start with a train line that has a demonstrated demand: the
Capital Corridor, instead of lines with no demonstrated demand.

The best lies that the high speed rail people can come up with still say
they can not pay back the construction cost from operation of the train.
Without any chance of getting their money back and no chance of any profit,
private investors will probably not be getting in line to invest money in
the high speed train.

The $55 ticket price is apparently half the price of a conventional train
and lot less than the ticket price of high speed rail in Europe. The guys
in California appear to all be crooks willing to say anything to get the
money in hand.
